Talk:Seven Dark Jedi

Back to page

Is the nama anywhere mentioned in the stories, or is it just fanon? MoffRebus 16:14, 16 February 2006 (UTC)

  • I created this article because it had a link under the same name. I don't know how official is the name. - TopAce 08:06, 17 February 2006 (UTC)
  • I wouldn't call it fandom. It refers to the specific group of Dark Jedi who followed Jerec, a specific faction that vied for power after the collapse of the Empire. Here is what the crawl says as the Jedi Knight game opens:

"Seizing the opportunity for control of the galaxy, new rival armies arise. The most dangerous of these are the DARK JEDI. Their leader, JEREC, seeks the legendary VALLEY OF THE JEDI."

That's a lot of capital letters, but it emphasizes that the group is called The Dark Jedi, and they are distinct from any other Dark Jedi around after the Empire collapses. I believe the game manual also calls them specifically the "Seven Dark Jedi"... I need to dig it up back at my parents' house. If anyone finds their copy of the game manual beforehand, can they verify this? Also, I remember that the manual has a quote from Qu Rahn about how Jerec assembled the seven; the quote appears right before the section describing each of the Dark Jedi. It would go great as an opening quote to this article, if anyone can find their old manual. BaronGrackle 11:21, 26 May 2006 (UTC)

  • i think they're referred to as the "seven dark jedi" in the databank as well in Kyle's entry... but I'm not sure. KEJ 11:52, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
  • NICE updates and pics on the page, KEJ! BaronGrackle 11:59, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
    • Thx, let's see what the others think. There appear to be some users that dislike galleries in articles. KEJ 12:09, 26 May 2006 (UTC)

The "Official" NameEdit

Looking through the manual, this is the only reference I could find to the group's specific name: "Your father has been murdered by Jerec, the most powerful of seven Dark Jedi." The bold for "Jerec" and "seven" is the game's doing, not mine; note, though, that seven is not capitalised while "Dark Jedi" is. There's this quote, and then there's the reference to them as "the DARK JEDI" in the opening crawl, as if there were no other group of Dark Jedi around at the time. The databank entry for Kyle is even less helpful: "Others were already on the path to discovering the Valley, however. The Dark Jedi Jerec and his six henchmen..." All considered, I may have spoken too soon in defending the "officialness" of this faction's name. Should we add Jango's speculative name template to this page? -BaronGrackle 09:17, 17 July 2006 (UTC)

  • When I created this page, it was because I followed a link under "Seven Dark Jedi," this naming is unofficial. - TopAce 09:20, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
    • I've slapped a conjecture-tag onto it. I mean the Seven Dark Jedi surely are canonical, and they do form a group/organization that has its place in the continuity. They're also conventionally known as "Seven Dark Jedi" in the fan community (that's my impression at least) but, yeah, this does not seem to be an official label for them. Maw - red lightsaber? Edit

It's orange in the novellas. KEJ 18:12, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
...and in the game. KEJ 18:29, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

As far as I can remember Jedi Knight, Maw used an orange lightsaber. Can anyone check it out? - TopAce (Talk) 17:57, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

  • I did check those pics, KEJ. What I'm primarily interested in is that if it is lighter than Jerec's. His saber looks orange on those pictures, but if it is of the same hue as Jerec's, then it's red indeed. The Jerec in-game pic we have is very small, so I can't really tell from that. - TopAce (Talk) 18:33, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
    • Jerec's saber looks red in the illustrations from the novellas, but of course it's questionably how canonical they are. It also looks genuinely red in the image from NEGC. But maybe there are some screenshots from the game somewhere on the internet. KEJ 18:44, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
    • Looked at screenshots in photoshop. Yun's yellow lightsaber is roughly RGB 255/255/52, Gorc and Pic's orange sabers 242/141/0, and Maw and Jerec's RED sabers somewhere around RGB 229/18/0. Maw's saber color is identical to Jerec's, but in-game it's hard to distinguish between yellow, orange and red (I think that's why Yun's saber is orange in Mysteries of the Sith).
