Hmmm... I'm thinking that this page should be redirected to "Shmi Skywalker Lars". But before I do so, I need some opinions from others. After all, it was the name she later took after her marriage. Slavery? Edit

The article says she was born in 72 BBY and was captured and put in slavery in 66 BBY. But then it says she was put into slavery when she was nine, which would have been 63 BBY. Was she captured when she was six, or are our dates wrong? -- Zelda Death 05:08, 23 March 2008 (UTC)

Was Shmi Force-sensitive? I mean, she was the mother of Anakin Skywalker, grandmother of Leia and Luke - etc, and the Episode I: The Visual Dictionary says she could sense if Anakin was near, even if she couldnt hear or see him. anakin's father Edit

Everyone seems to be under the impression that Shmi was miraculously impregnated by the Force, however i respectfully disagress for the following reason:

When questioned as to the partenity of the boy by Jedi master Quai Gon Jin, Shmi would say that "there was no father". Now some take this to be a literal description of some sort of imaculate conception, however, surely it's far more likely that she was simply referring to a distinct absence of a father in Ani's life and her task of raising him alone. accepted him.

  • Also, the context of the conversation makes it clear Qui-Gon is asking about Anakin's lineage, not about who has been a father figure in the boy's life. And her answer—"There was no father"—makes it clear this is how she took the question: not "there is no father," as in the father has disappeared, but that there never was one.
