Darth Maul, Part II (warning: potential spoilers) Edit

In Darth Maul, Part II, Sidious takes Maul to Malachor, and they visit the site of the Great Scourge. Then Sidious has Maul breathe in ashes from one of the petrified bodies, which he calls "the ash of the Empire that came before." Do you guys think, like I do, that it's enough to ascertain the Sith Empire (rather than just the Sith) was the entity fighting the Jedi during the Scourge? --Lelal Mekha The Uprising crest (Audience Room) 11:37, March 23, 2017 (UTC)

  • Yes, because there is no canonical reference—at least as far as I'm aware—to any other "Sith empire" (predating the Galactic Empire) besides the Sith Empire. We can always change the article if it ever turns out that Darth Sidious was referring to a different Sith empire than the one mentioned in Aftermath: Empire's End. • In The Clone Wars episode "Escape from Kadavo" Sidious tells Dooku "long have Sith empires been built upon the backs of slaves," meaning there is more than just one Sith empire. As such, I'm not sure we can confidently say that the Sith Empire mentioned in Empire's End is the same empire that fought on Malachor. Cevan IMPpress (talk) 13:53, March 23, 2017 (UTC)
      • Good catch. I totally forgot about that. In light of what Cevan just mentioned, I have to agree with him. JRT2010 (talk) 16:42, March 23, 2017 (UTC)
        • But in that case... the corollary question is "should we create a separate article for whatever Empire fought at Malachor?" Or, alternatively, should we create a generic "Sith Empires" article? --Lelal Mekha The Uprising crest (Audience Room) 17:14, March 23, 2017 (UTC)
          • I suppose it may be best to make a separate page for the empire that fought on Malachor, probably named "Sith Empire (Malachor)". Cevan IMPpress (talk) 18:44, March 23, 2017 (UTC)
            • What about using this page as a generic "Sith Empire" article? A "Sith Empire (Malachor)" article would, for the most part, state the same thing as this article—i.e. it was a Sith-ruled empire that existed long ago and practiced slavery; the key difference being one of them had a temple on Malachor which served as the site of the Great Scourge. However, it's just a suggestion. If others feel that there should be a separate article for the empire on Malachor, then that works too. JRT2010 (talk) 20:21, March 23, 2017 (UTC)
              • I think that, right now, there's too little information about the various Sith empires to have separate articles. Also, assuming the one mentioned in Empire's End and the one from Darth Maul may be different is just as speculative as assuming they're the same. --Lelal Mekha The Uprising crest (Audience Room) 20:27, March 23, 2017 (UTC)
