Talk:Sith apprentice

From Wookieepedia, the Star Wars wiki.

I think it would be great for a Sith Apprentice to be given a similar title to "Dark Lord of the Sith", except have them earn the word "Dark" by defeating their master.

[edit] Listing Sith Masters

I think we should exclude those Sith from the list who actually became Sith Masters. Include them and we will end up with a full list of all Sith Lords, apprentices and masters, too. All Sith who became Dark Lords had to be apprentices. Sith knowledge does not come from the air and cannot be learned alone, they needed masters who "apprenticed" them. - TopAce 19:00, 7 April 2006 (UTC)

  • Revan might be an exception to that, but I still agree that only the apprentices who never became Masters should be listed. Also, where did the saying of Nihilus dying before becoming a Sith Master come from? Anyone who has used any amount of brain power while playing TSL whould have known that is completely wrong. As far as I know, he had an apprentice (Visas Marr), and as far as canon is concerned, that is all that is required. So, that's being edited. I am also adding Yuuthura Ban while I'm at it.--Master Dakari 01:18, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Source for statement?

'"(though it appears that the apprentice didn't assume the role of Dark Lord until their training was complete)"' What's the source behind this statement? The only thing I can think of is Jacen not taking on the title until his training is "complete", but it really doesn't seem like Lumiya and Jacen are strictly following the whole Banite philosophy. All other sources I know of say that the apprentice is also a Dark Lord of the Sith. Kaje 00:35, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

Serious question: Did Anakin/Vader succeed to being the Sith Master, or did he turn away from the dark and -then- kill Palpy as a result?

  • I think he turned away before killing Palpatine; every canon source I've seen says that Vader (or rather Anakin Skywalker since he turned away from th dark side) killed Palpatine out of love for his son. Though there is a great argument in him killing Palpatine out of anger as well. It's a tough question. Vader's role as Palpatine's underling until he killed Palpatine suggest he was an apprentice only. But Vader took on apprentices himself, so that's a point on the side of his being a Dark Master. By killing Palpatine he gained the title of Master according to the Rule of Two, but again his training of apprentices beforehand mitigates that. He also renounced the title simultaneously with gaining it by returning to the light. The safest bet is to say that while he was as skilled as a Master, and performed the role(s) of a Master (training apprentices) , officially he was an apprentice until his return to the light.

The only role I can see only a Master Sith havng exclusively is taking an apprentice, as both master and apprentice take the title Dark Lord of the Sith and are referred to as 'Lord' by others, and both perform many duties.Elex Wulfen 22:35, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] End of Rule of Two?

My musings above bring another question to mind: was Vader effectively the end of the Rule of Two? His training of apprentices suggests he either broke with the Rule within the existing Sith Order or effectively created a new order by his actions.Elex Wulfen 22:33, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
