TitleEdit

Should the title of this article been changed to Anakin/Luke/Finn's lightsaber as clearly Finn is the next owner of the sword? Skywalker2255 (talk) 07:04, August 16, 2015 (UTC)

  • First off, that's utter speculation, and secondly, it's wrong; that's not "clearly" the lightsaber Finn is holding. It's got a different blade guard. Cade StupidRepublicEmblem-Traced-TORkit Calrayn 14:38, August 16, 2015 (UTC)

It looks really close to me. But I guess no one said Finn has Luke's old saber, but it is in the movie. Skywalker2255 (talk) 14:56, August 16, 2015 (UTC)

Personally, I don't even think this article should have Luke's name in it, much less this new character Finn's. I think it should just be called "Anakin Skywalker's Second Lightsaber", and the green one that Luke builds should be called "Luke Skywalker's Custom Lightsaber" or "Luke Skywalker's Hand-made Lightsaber". --ZacKatarn (talk) 23:36, November 18, 2015 (UTC) ZacKatarn

Presumably modified? Edit

I looked at an image of Finn holding the LS, But there is an open piece (wich is normally closed and coloured black) in the saber just above the grips that make the saber's beam visible. Is this an error or could it be modified by Finn himself or someone else?--DieKPie (talk) 17:28, November 6, 2015 (UTC)

Color Potency? Edit

I once read something about this lightsaber when Luke first ignites it. I've got the remastered trilogy where they don't completely recreate the special effects but they do enhance them, which I think is smart. It retains the feeling of the original film while making it easier on the eyes; same case for recreating Yoda with CGI in TPM but keeping the puppet for the original trilogy. In the original film I've heard that you can barely tell that this lightsaber even has a color as it's mostly just white. I've also heard that you can barely tell if Vader's lightsaber is red or if it's colorless. When you see Obi-Wan whip his out, it's in a dark environment so the color is more potent. In the remastered version, Obi-Wan and Vader's lightsaber are enhanced so that you can clearly see their colors better. Luke's is as well, but by comparison, when Luke uses his dad's original but it very much has a more cyan-colored hue as opposed to Obi-Wan's which is very clearly blue. I remember reading somewhere that they kind of retconned this in the EU literature by explaining that Anakin's old lightsaber is very pale when Luke first ignites it because it hasn't been activated in like 20 years, whereas you could assume that Obi-Wan has used his for like gang threats or protection from wild life, as well as maybe still training with it so his form doesn't get rusty. I assume that he knows he'll use it again someday, as he stays on Tatooine to watch over Luke until he's of appropriate age to be trained and not just for permanent retirement. Could anyone confirm this retcon I remember reading?

Chain of Custody Edit

Was this the lightsaber recovered by the Acolytes of the Beyond in Lost Stars? Wapakguy (talk) 20:40, December 18, 2015 (UTC)Wapakguy

Skywalker's lightsaber Edit

Could we move this to "Skywalker's lightsaber?" Just having a slash could glitch the coding into thinking this is an Anakin subpage. And since both Anakin and Luke have the name Skywalker, I think that would a better alternative without a slash. SeanWheeler (talk) 21:42, December 19, 2015 (UTC)

What about "Skywalkers' lightsaber" instead? It was used by two Skywalkers, not one as the placement of the apostrophe would imply. Made even more poignant if Rey turns out to be one Primarch Dysley (talk) 06:06, December 20, 2015 (UTC)

  • That would make more sense, however unless a source identifies it as "Skywalkers' lightsaber" we'll probably have to leave it at its current title. Cevan IMPpress (talk) 18:45, December 21, 2015 (UTC)

The Episode VII novel calls the weapon "the Skywalker lightsaber." Perhaps this title should be used instead? Cwedin(talk) 08:06, January 17, 2016 (UTC)

Improper Form listed under Luke's usage of the lightsaberEdit

This article states that Luke uses Anakin's second lightsaber to practice Form I on board the Millennium Falcon. Wouldn't Form V be a more accurate description of what Luke is practicing, as he is training his reflexes for blaster fire? Overall, Luke's form is much more similar to Form V (perhaps with some modifications from his duels with Vader) than it is to Form I.

Ahch-To Edit

Article currently reads

>After discovering the planet where Luke Skywalker was hiding, Rey, accompanied by Chewbacca and R2-D2, ventured to the planet aboard the Millennium Falcon

Should read:

>After discovering that Luke Skywalker was hiding on Ahch-To, Rey, accompanied by Chewbacca and R2-D2, ventured there aboard the Millennium Falcon

Since the planet now has a name. I'd change it but I'm not logged in & don't see an edit button. 67.184.38.122 00:07, January 6, 2016 (UTC)

2.2 Updated with new information Edit

Should the article be renamed "Rey's lightsaber"? Pablo Hidalgo stated in the latest Vanity Fair, releasing new details about Episode VIII: The Last Jedi, that quote: "Either way, the blade is no longer considered Anakin's [or Luke's] lightsaber by the Lucasfilm Marketing Department. It has now been officially dubbed 'Rey's'."

  • That's for marketing. its still the Skywalker lightsaber --DarthRuiz30 (talk) 23:47, May 24, 2017 (UTC)
    • I think until a source calls it 'Rey's lightsaber' we should hold off moving it as it'll be moving to a Conjecture title when it has an official name now. But we could add to the page that Rey is now the official owner of the saber --Lewisr (talk) 23:49, May 24, 2017 (UTC)
      • Why not create a re-direct with the URL starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Rey's_lightsaber, but still have the title of the page called the Skywalker Lightsaber. I think this needs to be taken seriously if Lucasfilm marketting will be calling it as such. I'm sure people are going to start searching the wiki for 'Rey's lightsaber' because of this --ChristopherLeeGallant (talk) 06:30, May 25, 2017 (UTC)
        • I'm fine with something like that being done --Lewisr (talk) 10:26, May 25, 2017 (UTC)
          • Pardon my ignorance, but is there a specific method and/or protocol for making re-directs?--ChristopherLeeGallant (talk) 18:34, June 2, 2017 (UTC)
            • Looks like it was already created. But if you had created it, the method would be to go to the Rey's lightsaber URL, click Create, and then add #REDIRECT [[Skywalker's lightsaber]] as the redirect page's content. Once you click Publish, the redirect is created. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 18:38, June 2, 2017 (UTC)

Page titleEdit

Why is this page not called Anakin Skywalker's second lightsaber? The Legends page is called that and in the canon this lightsaber is Anakin Skywalker's second lightsaber.--Benjay2345 (talk) 19:32, January 6, 2018 (UTC)

RepairEdit

I felt bad for that scene when it broke. If anybody could fix the lightsaber, it would be R2-D2! I really hope so!--User:Retro Reed 00:19, May 22, 2018 (UTC)

Activation Matrix Edit

For some reason, the activation matrix isn't always on the same side and the color of it isn't always the same either. Should that fact or the reason for it go anywhere in this article? --Retro Reed (talk) 19:45, December 6, 2018 (UTC)

  • Probably best to mention anything like that in the behind the scenes section --Lewisr (talk) 23:09, December 9, 2018 (UTC)
    • But I don't know why it is or how to explain it. --Retro Reed (talk) 23:12, December 9, 2018 (UTC)
      • Me neither really, its likely down to just how they designed the models of the lightsaber in the latter films. What about the color isn't the same? --Lewisr (talk) 23:16, December 9, 2018 (UTC)
        • Sometimes it's white/silver (I think that's how it originally was) and sometimes it's gold (I think under the ownership of Rey). --Retro Reed (talk) 23:19, December 9, 2018 (UTC)
          • I honestly have no idea --Lewisr (talk) 23:25, December 9, 2018 (UTC)
            • Wait a minute, I think what I'm curious about is described in the Behind the Scenes section, but in a different way. --Retro Reed (talk) 23:33, December 9, 2018 (UTC)
              • Is it? --Lewisr (talk) 23:44, December 9, 2018 (UTC)
