[edit] Consumation of Spice???

How do you consume spice? Do you eat it? Smoke it? I looked at spliff, but it deosn't say anything spicific.

[edit] The source of other spice?

As far as I remember, Kessel was source only of glitterstim. The source of ryll was Ryloth. Similarly, Naboo's moon Rori was source only of the spice variety known as kassoti - not of glitterstim as the article's current text implies. Also, the the spice varieties carsunum and andris were mined on Sevarcos. There was also a variety called tempest. Perhaps the article should be changed to include this information? --Bontchev 11:06, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

Chew but you'd think you could snort it.

[edit] Should we merge all variant spices into the main spice page?

Since there is very limited information on variants of spices i was thinking we just make a gallery of the different pictures of spice and add it to the spice page and just delete all the unneeded variant spice pages. --Dumac 20:59, 3 July 2006 (UTC)

  • so what your saying is we should merge all the spice pages together yer? i agree, it sounds like a good idea il put a tag up.. Jedi Dude 21:23, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
    • I think separate pages are better, since these are all different substances. Also, some articles are pretty long, like the major spices. Furthermore, if you're linking to a page on glitterstim or whatever, you really want to go to a page about that specific spice, not spice in general. -LtNOWIS 21:48, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
  • If we don't want to merge everything into one we could do the spice page then one on synthetic spices and another on natural spices. --Dumac 21:52, 3 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Lando and Kessel

Am I remembering this wrong, or should the date for Lando buying Kessel be ABY, not BBY?

[edit] Spice trade destroyed? 100 years to recover?

I don't have any sources to back up this objection, but it seems to me that the better part of 100 years is entirely too long for the spice trade to be defunct. Sure, when the Hutts were fighting the Yuuzhan Vong, they were unable to concentrate on exporting glitterstim, and the spice trade would definitely take a big hit. But the Hutts don't have a 100% monopoly on spice distribution, though they may control the market. Spice didn't just disappear because the Hutts weren't pushing it. Spice prices would have hit the roof, and smaller distributors would have capitalized on the Hutt's inability to export. The demand for an escape, especially during something as cataclysmic as the Yuuzhan Vong war, would have kept the spice trade alive to some extent. And then, in 30 ABY, when the war ended, the Hutts would need a huge source of income to help them recover their economy after the expense of the war, and they would have acquired it by reestablishing dealer connections and mining operations and flooding the market with spice. The assertion that because the major supplier of spice was preoccupied that everyone confronted the reality of their addiction and so there wasn't any demand for drugs during and immediately after the war is ridiculous. It seems to me that the spice trade would have recovered completely in no more than five years after the conclusion of the war, and would be enjoying a boom period as spice once again became readily available to consumers. If there's anything the real world has taught us is that drugs just don't go away. Could we clarify this a bit?

[edit] Direct Steal

Ok, so I just saw the Dune movie a couple months ago and this is a direct steal... What's up with that???

  • Heh. Some people say Tatooine itself is steal too. Though IMO Blenjeel takes the cake :-). --Azizlight 12:53, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
  • Tatooine "well if there's a bright centre in the universe, then your on the planet that is farthest away from" unlike Arakaas where it is politically in the centre of the Universe. The Spice on Kessel is just an elagel drug sold at the Black Market in the Galaxy, unlike Malanage in which "whoever controles the spice contros the Universe". [edit] Price of Spice?

What is the price of Spice? Can someone please add this to the page? This would be very useful for Star Wars Role Playing Game plot devices.

It says on equipment.
