[edit] I think this might be disputed

"The film was originally named Revenge of the Jedi to catch companies making fake t-shirts, toys, etc. who were using the title "Revenge of the Jedi", pointing out the fakers. Lucas believed that true fans would know that the title was fake, because vengeance is not a Jedi quality."

I've heard other sources describing this statement as a rumor, possibly a true rumor, but a rumor nonetheless.

Believe it or not its totally true. I just watched a documentary with Lucas in it and the orginal title was Revenge of the Jedi. Lucas changed the title only weeks before the release in theaters. Of course, he did this because a jedi shouldn't believe in revenge and the title would have been a huge oxymoron. Also, all this info is of the highest source of canon so it is 100% true. In the documentary they show an actual trailer that went by revenge of the jedi and a few posters as well. --Dumac 19:28, 3 July 2006 (UTC)

    • I believe there was also some concern at the time over the original title for Star Trek II, at that time going under the title Vengence of Khan. As I recall, Paramount changed the title from Vengence to Wrath, to avoid any confusion between the two pictures.Tocneppil 20:01, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

"Kenneth Colley (Admiral Piett)and Peter Cushing (Wilhuff Tarkin) are the only actors to play the same Imperial officer in two Star Wars films."

I'm pretty sure Tarkin was played by two different people since Peter Cushing was long dead by the time of Episode III IAmANerd 18:50, 13 Jan 2006 (UTC)

    • Indeed. Wayne Pygram plays Tarkin in RotS. However, thanks to the use of archive footage for the new shot of Vader landing in the Executor in the ESB Special Edition, Jerjerrod now appears in two movies, played by the same actor - Kwenn 19:16, 13 Jan 2006 (UTC)


Likely, the Pulled a Brandon Lee, and Photoshopped a Peter cushing Likeness onto an existing Actor. if that is the case, then they can say he played tarkin twice, and the second time, he was not paid .(12.202.29.34 22:07, 20 March 2008 (UTC))

At the end, it says the Millennium Falcon is not fast enough, and is destroyed inside the Death Star, along with Lando and Nien Nunb. Han gets depressed. No no no! you guys have it all wrong! Lando doesn't die in "The Return of the Jedi"! He made it through the flames. If you don't believe me, go to a movie store, buy a copy of the movie and see for yourself.

Yeah the line when Han says to Leia i have a feeling i'm not going to see her again seems to be stuck in there. Then again, he isn't force sensitive so he has no idea what he is talking about. His brain was still frozen in carbonite lol. --Dumac 19:30, 3 July 2006 (UTC)

There was also something along the lines of a 'discussion' between Harrison Ford & either George Lucas or Richard Marquand over the fate of Han. Ford apparently wanted his character to die in this film, but was overruled.Tocneppil 20:10, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

  • The original script and filming included the Millennium Falcon exploding just before reaching the exit of the Death Star II tunnel and Lando dies.

In the screen testing the audience fell eerily silent throughout the rest of the film, so a few scenes were changed:

  1. ) The Falcon flying out of the Death Star II just in time.
  2. ) Lando Yelling "Yeehaw!" as they escape the explosion.
  3. ) A few scenes were re-filmed to add Lando to the Ewok celebration.

This photo shows the Falcon clearly being destroyed.

  • I suspect that may be a skillfully done fake. The official site says "Lando is alive and well in every version" of the screenplay, and that "Also untrue are tales that footage of the Falcon [being destroyed] made its way into test screenings of Return of the Jedi." —Silly Dan (talk) 23:34, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

Right after a storm trooper shoots at Leia and the ewok the ewok gets up first. If you listen to the part a few times it sounds like he is saying "itchy mama" --Dumac 21:32, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

Does anyone know where in the Endor fleet battle ILM mocked up a sneaker? -its one of those 'Easter eggs' like the potato-asteroid in Ep V & the Shak-asteroid in Ep II. I've heard it was a ship or portion of a ship that passes across the screen during the confusion of the battle, but I don't know where.Tocneppil 20:20, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

      • Word I heard was that it's the undersole, mocked-up to look like the surface of a star cruiser, or something, that passes in front of part of the screen during the dogfight over Endor. There's some kind of waffle-like pattern that's still distinguishable, but I haven't had much luck looking. And re. Lightman's reply, I believe the 'wardrobe malfunction' during Oola's fall into the Rancor pit was 'covered' in the Special Editions.Tocneppil 07:27, 25 September 2006 (UTC)

Agreed. That change was more offensive than Greedo shooting at Han.

This is the only movie where Darth Vader does not Force choke someone. A scene did exist in the initial cut that showed Vader Force choke an Imperial Officer in order to gain access to the Emperor's throne room. This scene was cut because George Lucas felt that this point had been made clearly enough in The Empire Strikes Back. (12.202.29.34) No, it's got the original ending, which, for wahtever reason was changed. I think test auidences did not like it, or something to that effect. this was filmed, but like the scense with biggs on tatioone was never used. It was changed before the original theatrical release. Han even fortells the death of lando on the imperial shiuttle

Palpatine does say "Alive he still is?" in the novelization in reference to Yoda, and is relieved to find he's dead. Why'd you remove this? --Danik Kreldin 02:24, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

  • Not according to my copy. He says, "Lives he still?" which could be read to mean "Is he still alive after training you?" The initial reference began with Palpatine reading Luke's mind to find out who completed his training. After doing so, he says, "There was one called...Yoda. An aged Master Jed...Ah, I see by your countenance that I have hit a chord, a resonant chord indeed. Yoda, then." He then asks, "This Yoda...Lives he still?" and shortly thereafter concludes that "he lives not." Palpatine makes no further mention of Yoda in the novel, and I can't see anything in those above statements that allow for conclusive proof that Palpatine remembers Yoda; indeed, reading in context, Palpatine seems wholly unfamiliar with him. In the Ep. 4 re-release, the Mos Eisley scenes were strongly changed a made more "alive" than in the original version. When I watched again Ep. 1 yesterday, I found the forest very "alive" when the two Jedi meet Jar Jar for the first time. We see a lot of SW creatures fleeing the invasion. So Lucas wanted the Mos Eisley scene to be more "alive", so why didn't he made the Endor forests more "alive" as well, with more SW-specific creatures like we can see in the Naboo forest? Now that he gave us the original trilogy unaltered, I think if he wanted to have the movies to be changed a stuffed by a lot more CG details, he should have added more SW-specific animals and maybe more shots in the Endor forest, which is completely empty, compared to the other prequel landscapes, which are always filled with many animals. We only see Ewoks and Earth (and real) animals. Do you thinks he'll add some shots in the next "definitive" editions. Now that I have the unaltered versions, I don't care, he came make anything he wants with the special editions versions. We'll see in the future. Any thoughts? On Endor when Han, Leia and Chewie are captured and taken out of the shield generator bunker and you see the 501st and the captured rebels, if you look on the left of the group of rebels there is a storm trooper with his helmet off and his hands behind his head. I didn't see this mentioned in the trivia section: Towards the end during the battle on endor when Leia, Han and C3P0 are waiting for R2 to get the doors open to the shield generator complex, R2 gets shot and Han has to make his attempt on the door. Whilst Leia is covering him, she gets shot in the shoulder and Han rushes to her aid, first grabbing her by both shoulders, but then for a breif period, his camera side hand (makes it his right), slides down and appears to grab her breast. As far as I know, this is in all releases.

I've no idea as to whether this was scripted, or noted, or indeed actually a bonafied "booby grab", but I thought it was lulz. Was Han Solo really so cheeky he'd go for breast action in the middle of battle? Or was it a long day for Harrison Ford and he was a little itchy?

You've got them listed down as two different characters, but the tall man stood beside Admiral Piett on the bridge of the Executor is definitely Pip Miller, making him Gherant, and therefore Gherant is Stardestroyer Captain #1. I've already editted this on the Gherant article.

I think that we should include the following:

The lightsaber battle between Luke and Vader is criticized by some fans, saying that it is "too short" and that it looks like Luke beats Vader with ease. But after Luke and Vader clash their sabers over the Emperor's head, they are battling 12 feet away from Palpatine. This can only mean that the combatants have been battling during the 3 minutes long interim between the two RotJ chapters "The Dark Side Beckons" and "Father vs Son".

I think so cuz it does make sense and it puts everything in place. I put this in my SW BLOG, and I received lots of possitive comments. Fans agree, and see for yourself: http://blogs.starwars.com/saberb/1/comments

It is just great and it makes sense. It is real. What do you think, do you think Luke and DV just teleported 12 feet away from the Emperor? It is not supported by GL, he never stated sth like that, but, for example, see the following:

Early incarnations of A New Hope featured lightsaber-wielding stormtroopers. It is unknown if the shadowtroopers were based on this concept.

I was looking through some pictures of Coruscant and Naboo and remembered the very end of Episode VI that was re-released in 1997. At that time I was very impressed by the final scene, where we could see Tatooine and Bespin celebrating the end of the Empire, but to my disappointment there's no article about this major event in SW Wiki. I wonder, why?

There is also nothing about the Emperor's statue being crushed down by the citizens of Coruscant. Neterwan 19:22, 18 November 2008 (UTC)
