What I don't get is why Star Wars technology uses lasers and plasma to do works of destruction, but on Earth we used nuclear power which does just as much damage. Their galaxy must be smart enough to be able to produce nuclear power and by that time in their advancement why can't they create nuclear energy cheaply and quickly. Nuclear power could destroy ship in space quicker then plasma guns or whatever they have. Or even if nuclear power is not enough, are they not advanced enough to create anti-matter and put it into bombs which could create substantial amounts of energy which little mass (E=mc^2). It just seems that nuclear power and anti-matter would be more practical then spending massive amounts of money on plasma technology that would be out done by other more "primitive" forms of destruction. The Death Star and City Devastators would be superfluous compared to nuclear power and anti-matter.
