Nature: Comparison to U.S. forcesEdit

Would it be safe to make a comparison of the Stormtrooper Corps during the initial phase of the Galactic Empire (New Order) as analogous to the U.S. Marine Corps and the latter phase of the Legacy-era Galactic Empire as analogous to the U.S. Army's Airborne divisions? In this sense, the Stormtroopers started life in the Empire as an elite, autonomous force of the Imperial Forces, but later reconstituted as an integral part of the Imperial Army?--SOCL 19:59, 12 October 2006 (UTC)

501st LegionEdit

According to Imperial Commando, the 501st Legion, and stormtroopers in general, are part of the Imperial Army. Has it ever been confirmed that the seperate Stormtrooper Corps was formed immediately upon the reorganization of the GAR, or could it have split later from the Imperial Army? --Bluerock 19:19, February 16, 2012 (UTC)

Imperial ArmyEdit

Does anyone know the source stating that the Stormtrooper Corps was absorbed into the Imperial Army by the time of the Legacy era? Just wondering because the Essential Guide to Warfare does not mention it. Actually it seems to refer to the stormtroopers as though they were still an independent branch in Fel's Empire. Commander Cody Quotes Edit

Are those quotes really appropriate? My own bias aside, stormtroopers were far from terrible unlike a lot of people claim. And Cody seems more like a disgruntled veteran thinking about the "glory days" at that time so I wouldn't really take what he said at face value, especially since the comment about operational effectiveness decreasing, as far as I know only comes from him. - 22:38, October 24, 2012 (UTC) Some SW Fan

I should have also included that the novels Allegiance and the Empire series of comics (just to name a couple of sources) shows that the stormtroopers are far from the dumb recruits Cody makes them out to be. It also seems odd to have those quotes, and the article itself mentioning that the stormtroopers were elite shocktroops at the same time. - Some SW Fan
