Great Work!
Edit
I'm absolutely stunned at all the work you've all done! Heck, I even managed to get a pun in on that last sentence. Anyways, great work! Just needed to get this out, you can delete it as soon as you want. TheNewDarthMalevlent(The Sith shall rise to power!) 00:58, 15 May 2007 (UTC)
Blue Ring Effect
Edit
I made a change that I feel may be controversial, so I figured I'd explain what I think and people can discuss it here.
Most people think that a stun blast is a series of expanding blue rings shot from the blaster. I've even seen this implemented in fan-created mods for the game Jedi Knight. But upon some frame-by-frame investigation of the film, I am convinced that a stun blast is a single, fixed-diameter ring shot from the blaster.
I think that most of these misconceptions are due to the camera angles used in this singular example of a stunning. The first shot is close-up, with the blast coming directly at the camera. Of course this would make it look like the blast is expanding, but the next shot where the blast travels away from the camera, the ring gets smaller. This leads me to think that the misconception that stun rings expand is merely a camera perspective issue.
The multiple-ring issue I feel is due to the camera and film as well. The stun effect is only a few frames long. With how much it changes size on the screen in such a short time, it creates an optical illusion that there are several rings coming from the blaster. But on frame-by-frame examination, there is only a single ring.
So tell me if you think I am wrong, otherwise, the changes stand! -- KievanMereel 18:34, 15 May 2007 (UTC)
- This question has me wondering as well. I've concluded that some blasters fire a blue "bolt" as described in many novels (i.e. Dark Tide: Ruin) which can be deflected by a lightsaber. Maybe, the E-11 was deliberately designed to fire a cone-shaped stun bolt, therefore enabling stormies to better capture jedi. Also, I believe that Calissta was just not experienced enough or strong enough in the force to block the stun bolt from Daala. (Chente 13:21, 4 August 2008 (UTC))
Stun settings vs. Force-users?
Edit
I'm not sure of any proof of this, but it seems like Force-users of the Old Republic had some defense against stun settings. I know that Corran Horn, as well as his bloodline, was able to absorb the energy from stun batons, but would that extend to stun blasters? Something to think about...I would have put something in the article had I had some backup...-Goodwood 20:14, 15 May 2007 (UTC)
- Well, I did my best. Plus a little shuffling and adding of a sub-catagory. And a fat lot of help you were, too! ;o)-Goodwood 04:54, 19 May 2007 (UTC)
