Named after the Jedi general?
Edit
Should some mention be made of the origin of the name of this award -presumeably its named after General Hoth, not the planet.Tocneppil 20:28, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
- When X-wing was released (1993), Lord Hoth did not exist. Of course if an author decided to make a newly made backstory about this medal and connect it to the General, he would do so, but it's 100% certain that the designers of the game had the planet in mind. - So its named after the Battle of Hoth?Tocneppil 19:33, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
- No, X-wing happens before the Battle of Hoth. Logically the name is about the planet itself. MoffRebus 19:38, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
- I thought so -it seemed wierd that they named an award after a cold planet.Tocneppil 19:44, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
- Honestly, I don't think the designers thought much of a backstory or continuity. They just chose names well known from the movies (secondarily from the EU) and stuck them around for a 'Star Wars effect'. It would make sense if it was for the General, but it's up to an author to make the retcon. MoffRebus 20:32, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
- Oh, I agree -Hoth doesn't even have any kind of avian life that we know of.Tocneppil 22:09, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
