Edited to move the opening paragraph to a "Behind the Scenes" section.--Sith Priestess 16:07, 10 Mar 2005 (GMT)

  • I see what's happening now. Everything that we would use to open the article to those who didn't know it was a fictional creation in a fictional universe, doesn't need to be stated anymore, as whoever enters this Wiki should know that already. -- Riffsyphon1024 21:01, 10 Mar 2005 (GMT)
  • Looks good. But I think the Skywalker's are well-known enough to be listed in the in-universe section.-LtNOWIS 21:04, 4 May 2005 (UTC)
    • I hope the history of Tatooine is now sufficient, although I daresay it could easily be doubled in length.JustinGann 04:59, 30 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Appearances

Where exactly does Tatooine appear in Episode III? MarcK 07:28, 27 Sep 2005 (UTC)

  • At the end, when Obi-Wan gives Luke to the Lars family. jSarek 07:29, 27 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Just a little footnote that when the young Beru walked up that little rise with baby Luke, to show him to Owen, Luke climbed that same rise, as the power was being turned down for the night in Chapter 4, and gazed off into the distance in exactly the same way as his aunt and uncle had done years earlier.Jimsigns 19:10, July 12, 2010 (UTC)

Geology, geography, flora & fauna

Is the Sarlacc indigenous to Tatooine? I thought it's planet of origin was unknown. Dan Loto 15:55, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

I uploaded a map of Tatooine from the Secrets of Tatooine book from WOTC. If anyone thinks it could be beneficial the file name is TatooineMap.jpg. I really didn't see a place for it and there is an external link at the bottom to another map. Thoughts? Dechca 15:59, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

Knights of the Old Republic

I added a brief summary of Revan's visit to Tatooine during KOTOR.

Issues with the Infobox

  • I've noticed that a large number of Major Cities and Points of Interest were removed from the Infobox at some stage (compare current article with this). Should these be re-added? I can understand that some of the listings were fairly obscure, and the infobox was getting very large. But I think they should remain there, or at least put them somewhere else in the article. Maybe we should set some sort of standards as to what kind of cities/points of interest should be listed. --Azizlight 22:41, 3 February 2006 (UTC)
  • The infobox DOES certainly need to be shortened. I think some items need to be removed from various sections that are placed there because of speculation, are listed in multiple sections of the infobox, or simply don't need to be there at all. For instance: 1) "dune seas" in the Primary Terrain section and Dune Sea in the Points of Interest section. 2) Native Species section: Riorans - in the entry for this species it says that they are "possibly descended from the cliffborer worms of Tatooine", but it doesn't say that Riorans themselves were native to Tatooine, or for that matter, ever lived there. 3) The Immigrated Species section should only include species that moved to Tatooine in large numbers, not species where we only see one example on Tatooine, and are never even given to believe that the individual in question actually lived there for any extended period of time (like Rodians). 4) Finally, many of the sections in the infobox are repeated within the main body of the article proper. Most likely, there are at least one or two sections that could be removed from the infobox altogether. -- k1darkknight 05:40, 2 August 2007 (UTC)
  • Should we change the official language section? I noticed there are several languages spoken there. It should either be "Spoken Languages" with all the listed or "Official Language" with probably Basic listed.

Improvement

This page is EMBARASSING! Cutch 23:56, 9 April 2006 (UTC)

Aftermath of Jabba the Hutt

  • Well You must realize that after the death of Jabba the Hutt a new ruler must have arose and to find out just check out Zotoros Infinite. And no he is not my SWG CHARACTER! 16:37 31 May 2006

Twin suns, but not twin shadows

Okay, I know I've done something similar to this before, but, I think it needs to be mentioned in the BTS section of the article that no one on the entire planet has two shadows, even though there are two suns. Is this okay to add? -Lord vader1414 03:22, 7 July 2006 (UTC)

  • Well, I'm going to add it. If you have a problem with it, tell me, and I'll take it out. -Lord vader1414 03:09, 8 July 2006 (UTC)

Planet View

Is there a picture anywhere that we could add of the planet as seen from some distance, as in the whole globe? I see it on most of the other major planets in the Star Wars setting, but not this one for some reason. --Wookiee Jedi 07:25, 9 September 2006 (UTC)

  • I've found this one from Star Wars Racer. It's not the best we can have IMO, but this is the whole globe. -- Kaal 14:09, 17 September 2006 (UTC)
File:Tatooine1 (R1).png
  • Tatooine TPM

I've found a better photo in the Episode I Insider's Guide, and btw, I really think we should use this one as the main pic, instead of this ugly "low-res cg" picture from NEGAS (sorry...), and more, I've heard many times that if an element is in the movies, the main pic must be from the movies, and not from other sources. So, what do you think of it? -- Kaal 17:36, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

  • Cropped and put in. I'm not sure what the person who put the NEGAS in as the main image was smoking. --RedemptionTalk Uglykotoricon 17:48, 16 December 2006 (UTC)
  • Now it looks great! ;) -- Kaal 03:01, 17 December 2006 (UTC)
  • What do you think about somebody adding Celestia screenshot of Tatooine? Methyl Orange 09:09, 14 December 2007 (UTC)

Farming/tatooine

Isn´t it a bit strange to have farmers on a desert planet? Woulden´t you farm better on, say, Yavin 4? What are those ,,vaporiser mushrooms" , mentioned in AOTC, anyway? Or it was sort of ,,plot elmement" to have hero of the galaxy live on harash, desert, hard-to-make-living-on backwater?(the famous ,,peasant went hero" cliché). Hominid 20:52, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

Further History

I would like to suggest the proposal of someone (someone who has the patience and time to be able to write the information down when playing KOTOR (Knights of the Old Republic). Anyway. Suggestion: I would like to suggest that someone visit the Sand People (in KOTOR) and have the storyteller tell the story of Tatooine's history (as, Tatooine use to be green and luscious, rather than the desert that it is now).

Or..If you have the PC version of KOTOR, maybe look through your files and try to find the sound file of HK-47 translating the Sand Person's story (since, Sand People language..forgot the name :o.. is not comprehendable to us -REAL LIFE- humans). And, then copy down the conversation, into this article.

I hope that you are able to understand what I am proposing! Jacnoc (Talk | Contribs) 22:24, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

  • We don't just copy text from other sources word-for-word, sorry. And I think all the info is already in the article in some form - \\Captain Kwenn// Ahoy! 22:26, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

Appearances

I suggest we create an List of appearances article because are to many !Darth Nospher 15:21, 25 January 2007 (UTC)

The sarlacc is in the wrong catagory

The sarlacc is semi-sentient. Go to it's page and you'll figure that out. But on this tatooine article it says the sarlacc is non-sentient. This is a little bit weird don't you think? I'll ask Brain40 he's a sarlacc expert.--Windu223 17:48, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

Hutt Infested

Just a question. Does anyone think it is strange that the Hutts control it, but it is not part of Hutt Space?

Maybe hutts had starships so they flw away from nal hutta, went to tatooine, gave birth to other hutts, and colonized there.--Windu223 23:23, 9 April 2007 (UTC)

Or its economic. Tatooine is at the arse end of space, so it can be easily controlled. ApprenticeEternal 17:36 12 April 2007

Problem...

On my browser, there is a massive white space between 'Galactic Republic' and the proseline warning. I've tried to solve this, but I can't. Does anyone else have this problem? Unit 8311 15:03, 8 June 2007 (UTC)

- I've noticed this problem, too. It appears that the databox on the right of the page has more information than that of the the main text. The Infinite Empire subsection is too short. They can try adding a larger image to the left of the text and lowering the margins of the text enough so the white space is completely covered. -Kaveti6616

Conflicting information

We have history that says that it was water and then evaporated naturally around 2 million BBY, and then we have the Rakata factor which turned the planet into a sandball circa 30000 BBY. It doesn't sound right. -- Riffsyphon1024 14:09, 15 June 2007 (UTC)

  • Perhaps the vegetation remained, regardless of the water loss. And then the Rakata came along and turned the rest desert. Not the best explanation, I admit. Unit 8311 14:56, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

5.2 Factual correction

The article says that Anchorhead was the first colony on Tatooine, but in KOTOR, the Czerka corp worker and other NPCs claim that records show Tatooine was colonized several times before. Someone should look into this (not me, 'cause i don't know much). Thank You. -Kaveti6616

Sources

There are a lot of chronological information, especially in the Republic section, that we don't know where they are from. Sources should be added. Klow 11:22, 30 June 2007 (UTC)

Hutt Hideout

In SWG, there is a small cave full of thugs, assassins, and Gamorrean guards. As the player gets deeper, (s)he is able to see a small city, and the Hutt's servants are presumed to live here. I have no idea if it is canon, and- if it is- is it worth mentioning in this article. Or does it deserve its own article? EDIT: The source is Allakhazam, and the coordinates are 5121, 647. -24.90.99.26

BTS, X-Files reference

In the "Behind the scene" section, it's said: "In the first X-Files movie the end desert scene is stated to be in Tatooine, Tunisia." . I can't verify it right now, but in my memories, I'm pretty sur that in this scene, the text doesn't say "Tatooine", but "Tataouine", the real place in Tunisia. Kaal 02:00, 6 January 2009 (UTC)

Tatooine and Earth

This second to last sentence in the Behind the Scenes section confuses me: "Lastly, Tatooine is on the galaxy's edge, similar to how Earth is on the edge of the Milky Way galaxy, as shown by the shot of the constellation Orion in the night sky in The Phantom Menace." Orion appearing in the Tatooine sky doesn't show that Tatooine is on the galaxy's edge. Also, the link Orion leads to a stub about a star in the Orion system, and has no connection to the Phantom Menace scene in question. Could we find a way to rewrite this and get a link to that pic? Thanks.

200 000 people?

Anyone finds it hard to believe that there is only a population of 200 000 sentients on Tatooine!? With Bestine, Mos Eisly and Mos Espa. Also 5% of the total population gives only 10 000 jawas on the whole planet.

      • Spryquasar***
        • There was a time, when the human population of earth dropped below 10000. And we don't live on a dry rock. Only 10000 Jawa is not so unbelievable. Darth Morrt 07:58, September 21, 2010 (UTC)
  • Whether or not you find it hard to believe means nothing when it comes to this article, or any article about a canonical subject. OLIOSTER (talk) 20:22, February 14, 2010 (UTC)

What happened to Mos Nytram?

On the Zephyr-G swoop page it says that Owen Lars bought a used swoop in Mos Nytram. And it seems that Mos Nytram has been omitted from the Locations section of the Tatooine page. Thanks for listening. :-) Taliesin2 05:43, September 21, 2010 (UTC)

"A song by Jeremy Messersmith is called after the planet and states its twin suns."

  • Why was this deleted in "Behind the Scenes"? The same thing is still there for Alderaan, where the song "Californication" by the Red Hot Chili Peppers is stated. So why not this/here as well? I don't see anything that stands against it... --Chimealheltei 22:55, October 8, 2010 (UTC)

Luke's description of Tatooine

"Well, if there is a bright center in the universe, then you are on the planet that it is farthest from"

If you think about it more, it's hard to actually tell the difference if he meant it literally or figuratively, he could be using figurative language by describing the "bright center" as a some sort of paradise, and saying "planet that it is farthest from" obviously describes that Tatooine is the complete opposite of a paradise, or the least likely to be a paradise planet. There are also some hints that Luke especially hates the planet as well in Episode IV.

SWTOR

SWTOR Consular questline says that there were 4 races. One died in the bombardments, one afterwards, leaving two. I don't see mention of this. Bjj8383 21:27, April 19, 2012 (UTC)
