Talk:Theta-class T-2c shuttle

In the box it says the backup hyperdrive was a Class 15. Should that be Class 1.5 Just checking.Avid Soyak 05:12, 11 February 2006 (UTC)
- backup hyperdrives are remarkably slow, and a x15 modifier for such a small ship sounds about rightDangerdan97 15:28, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
- Still, this would be the first time I heard of a Class 15. Admiral J. Nebulax (talk) 21:19, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
- The slowest primary hyperdrive you're likely to see is Class 4. Backup hyperdrives are meant for emergency use only, so they only work at a fraction of the speed of a main drive. Their existence explains some plot holes, like how the Falcon got from Hoth to Bespin with a busted hyperdrive (the Falcon's backup is Class 10). —Darth Culator (talk) 00:56, 29 March 2006 (UTC)
- Well, from my memory of seeing a map of the Galaxy, they aren't really that far apart. Perhaps they managed to improvise. Admiral J. Nebulax (talk) 01:58, 29 March 2006 (UTC)

Grievous stealing a tri-winged shuttle in Labyrinth of Evil?
Edit
I have read Labyrinth of Evil recently, and wonder if James Luceno was referring to a Republic Theta-class shuttle when he wrote about a 'tri-winged' or 'tri-wing shuttle' in which Grievous took Palpatine from his bunker to the Invisible Hand. I am aware that there is already a page called Tri-wing shuttle which refers to this as the same craft seen in Chapter 25 of Clone Wars, but I wondered if this is more likely an example of another discrepancy between these two stories. - Kev-La Ttolya, we don't know if he stole a Theta shuttle. All we know for sure is that he used a tri-wing shuttle to escape Coruscant. Fleet Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision)

- Jack Nebulax, I know that. I was hoping that other people, apart from yourself, might see my pondering on here, and perhaps help. I mean, for all I know, James Luceno might be a Wookiepedian, right? And we know he used a tri-wing in Labyrinth, but there is nothing to suggest that this is the same craft shown in Clone Wars. Which is my point. Kev-La Ttolya 13:09, 14 July 2006 (GMT)
- And we don't know if he used a Theta. This is all speculation. If Mr. Luceno says it's a Theta, key word "if", then we'll know. Fleet Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision)

- I didn't say Grievous steals a Theta, though, did I? No. I'm talking about the possibility (a strong one to my thinking) that Luceno may have intended it that way. Now, I know someone is not likely to suddenly turn up with some proof of whether or not I'm right or wrong, but until they do (if ever), what can a little conjecture do apart from help identify the need for official sources to make clarification? I mean, I doubt Leland, Luceno, Lucas, or anyone else for that matter, goes around resolving questions that noone is even asking in the first place.
- If Luceno had wanted it to be a Theta-class, he would have called it a Theta-class. He specifically names other new RotS ships in the book (V-wing, ARC-170 etc) and gives names to other vessels (Diamond cruisers etc). So no, I don't think it is a Theta-class, which is why it's referred to simply as a "tri-wing shuttle". Moreover, this is no place for speculation. Tri-wing shuttle it remains - Kwenn 16:48, 14 July 2006 (UTC)
- Good point. Fleet Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision)

Empire at War
Edit
Just curious as to where the Theta-class shuttle appears in Empire at War? --Darth Windu 06:33, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
- I don't think it does. —Grand Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision)

- I didn't think so either, but the article lists the game as an appearance, hence the question. --Darth Windu 10:49, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
- I'll give it a day. No response, and I'll remove it. —Grand Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision)

Hyperdive range.
Edit
According to ICS the T-2's max. range of hyperdrive is 8,000 light years. So I wonder how it managed to reach Mustafar, which is 53,000 l.y. from the Core? Coruscant is 10,000 l.y. from core, so the minimum distance to travel would be 43,000 l.y. When one thinks of Palpatine vision's concerning Vader's safety, it's unlikely that time consuming refueling along the way was taken into consideration.
- You forget that his T-2 was heavily modified! ~ Awar 10:24, 16 April 2008 (UTC).
- I checked what the modifications were, and there was nothing about improved hyperdrive. From what we see in the movies, range was never the issue as even the small starfighters could cross thr distance from Core to Outer Rim in less than 24 hours.
- Then it's simply movie machiques that's all! ~ Awar 08:31, 17 April 2008 (UTC).

Origins
Edit
The design for this shuttle is actually one of Joe Johnston's discarded plans from Return of the Jedi. If you'll look at the Art of Return of the Jedi, you'll see it just like the Turbo Tank design originates from a discarded drawing for the ground battle machines on Hoth in Episode V. See the Art of the Empire Strikes Back for those images.Sochwa 06:40, 30 August 2009 (UTC)
