Gas giant[]

I know that some random community manager stated in a news that this planet is suppose to be a "gas giant". But that's clearly not the case. It has an obvious solid crust, where the tibana mining operations are constructed upon and you can even see it (and its oceans) from space... Unsigned comment by 82.64.66.109 (talk • contribs).

  • Regardless of whether it makes sense, if the source refers to it as a gas giant, that is its canonical nature. VergenceScatter (talk) 16:02, 17 September 2021 (UTC)
    • That's not how canon works... That's not even how sources work either... The "source" here is a news article that talks about an ingame update. The only mention of the planet is "Giradda the Hutt invites you to compete in the 8v8 spectator sport of Huttball on the giant gas planet of Vandin!". The planet is never mentioned as a "gas giant" in the game, or any other lore material and every information we have about it contradict that elusive statement. If an update log states that "Coruscant is in fact a black hole", it's not to be taken out of faith value without critical thinking. The only other source we have, outside the game is a yet older update news that states that Vandin is a "gas mining planet". It's not far fetch to conclude that the community manager who made that second news was in fact confusing "gas mining" and "gas giant".Unsigned comment by 82.64.66.109 (talk • contribs).
      • That's exactly how canon and sources works, and it's not up to us to tell what is wrong or not (prescriptive stance). Now, you're not wrong that there is an inconsistency, but that should be documented in a "Behind the scenes" section (descriptive stance). --NanoLuukeCloning facility 15:15, 17 October 2021 (UTC)
        • No, that's not how canon works... That has nothing to do with prescriptive vs descriptive stances, this is a case where all the in-universe sources describe things one way and the single "source" contradicting it and taken at face value for reasons is a very short patch note addressing another topic, published AFTER the apparition of the planet in game. Ironically, in this patch note, the planet is never referred as "gas giant" but, once, as a "giant gas planet" and its nature never mentioned again.Unsigned comment by 192.33.156.2 (talk • contribs).
