Talk:Varactyl

From Wookieepedia, the Star Wars wiki.

May I suggest we use a picture from ROTS rather than Galaxies to illustrate this article? Gothymog 23:25, 5 Nov 2005 (UTC)

Done. Cato Neimoidia 23:48, 14 February 2006 (UTC)

Where is the pencil coloured pic from?

Also, possibly, a mention about the honking sound? GrandAdmiralParck 05:31, 12 August 2006 (UTC)

why are they considered non sentient? boga seemed sentient enough. Ugluk 23:28, 31 August 2006 (UTC)

"However, Boga was killed by sacrificially absorbing an AT-TE's main cannon blast to protect Obi-Wan Kenobi when Commander Cody executed Order 66." I disagree. After watching it again, I believe this is inaccurate on two points: First, the AT-TE cannon shot hit the rocks near them, not striking either directly. Second, they both plunged into the pool, with only Kenobi shown emerging; the fate of Boga is presumed but not directly divulged. For all we know, it lived.--Iampariah 07:09, 27 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Clarification regarding varactyl reproduction

I'd like to see one piece of information clarified: how does one egg lead to a population of dozens? – Aidje talk 21:18, 24 November 2006 (UTC) ==males==we only have pics of the blue females, ala Boga. Can someone get the VD pic of the orange males?!68.105.249.189 10:04, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

  • Maybe Varactyls don't need a male to reproduce? How else would there be dozens?

[edit] Confirmation of Kashyyyk battle presence?

The RotS page says "In the two shots where the Wookiees roar just before their battle, the varactyl's (the lizard-mount used by Obi-Wan elsewhere in the film) bark can be heard." Anyone hear this? Cutch 02:06, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

I may have.I'm not for sure.Sith-venator 15:35, 23 November 2008 (UTC)

  • I've definitely heard the sound, but it could equally well be the call of a bolotaur. Since the bolotaur looks like a descendant of a varactyl, it may have the same callJustinGann 20:32, 24 November 2008 (UTC)

I went back and watched it on Spike and yes i do hear vartactyls. Also bolataurs sounds more like dinosaurs from black and white movies from the 30s.So yes they may have been scared or responding to the wookies roar,I dont know but i know i heard one.Sith-venator 02:56, 27 November 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Taris and Tatooine?

They are on Tatooine and Taris?

[edit] Semi-sentient designation

What is the source for that? NEGAS says nonsentient.--Lord OblivionSith holocron 21:13, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Redundant

reptilian lizard-like this is a needless recapitulation in the description of these creatures. quadrupedal saurian is more more accurate and avoids needless restatement. Sochwa 19:36, 23 May 2007 (UTC)

Not all reptiles are lizard like ((see:snakes))((see:pterosaurs)), but this animal is definitely not reptilian ((see:feathers)). Feathered, lizard-like should suffice for this creature. 72.235.131.7 10:50, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

[edit] males

We have three pics of the blue females, but we need at least one pic of the orange male from VDJustinGann 09:04, 27 November 2008 (UTC)
