Talon Squadron was an elite heavy strike/starfighter support squadron of the Imperial Navy, consisting of Assault Gunboats and TIE Avengers. It was stationed aboard the Imperial-class Star Destroyer Rage.

CharacteristicsEdit

Talon Squadron originally consisted of two squadrons—Beta Squadron and Gamma Squadron—equipped with TIE/ln starfighters and TIE/sa bombers. During the Airam Sector campaign, they were merged after the Imperial-class Star Destroyer Rage of Task Force Vengeance received a shipment of advanced TIE Avenger and Assault Gunboat starfighters, replacing her stock TIE/ln fighters and TIE/In interceptors, and TIE/sa bombers. Avenger Squadron received the space superiority TIE's, while Avenger's former support squadrons, Beta and Gamma, were reformed into Talon Squadron and flew Assault Gunboats almost exclusively. The squadron often worked in tandem with Avenger Squadron and, during such operations, it played a vital role as part of Task Force Vengeance. Towards the end of the campaign—in the Battle of Nocto—it was re-equipped with TIE Avengers.

HistoryEdit

During the operations of Task Force Vengeance under Admiral Senn, Talon Squadron's duties primarily involved heavy strike missions against enemy capital ships, disabling target vessels with ion cannons and the support of Avenger Squadron during combat.
