The shipping fleet came under threat from pirates, notably the gang led by Gir Kybo Ren-Cha. Ren-Cha's operation culminated in a theft of a Tammuz-an tanker and his attempted invasion of the world with the use of a stolen Gladiator-class Star Destroyer.
