Tanith Shire was a Human female who worked as a supply tug operator at the starship yards of Fondor. Tanith was an attractive, blonde-haired woman with a forward, flirtatious personality.

BiographyEdit

Several years before the Battle of Yavin, Tanith and her father, Josen Shire, were forced to crash-land their ship on the desert world of Ophideraan. On Ophideraan, Tanith and Josen were enslaved by the Serpent Masters, and put to work maintaining the Great Well. The Supreme Serpent Master, Tyrann, became attracted to Tanith, and the girl used this to her advantage. She persuaded Tyrann to allow her to leave Ophideraan, though on the condition that she supplied his people with wrecks to salvage.

Around 0 ABY, Tanith made her way to Fondor being employed as a supply tug operator. She periodically sent drone barges and supply ships programmed to crash on Ophideraan's surface for the Serpent Masters to loot. She explained away the loss of these vessels with stories of system malfunctions. This life of servitude to the Serpent Masters was ended with a chance encounter with Luke Skywalker, a young Rebel who had stolen plans to an Executor-class Star Dreadnought in construction over Fondor.

Tanith Shire was instantly smitten with the Rebel hero, and helped Luke escape an Imperial trap by ferrying him out-system in an automated drone barge. The two arrived at Ophideraan, where both Tanith and Luke were placed in the slave levels of the Great Well. Luke was able to defeat Tyrann and the Serpent Masters, and freed the slaves in the Great Well.

Though Tanith had fallen in love with Skywalker, and longed for him to stay on Ophideraan, she knew he was committed to the Rebel Alliance, and decided not to pursue a relationship with him. They shared a parting kiss before Luke returned to Yavin 4.
