Tann Gella was a female Rutian Twi'lek who was the twin sister to Ann Gella and served as slaves to the renowned Dug podracer Sebulba after he purchased them from the Hutt crime lord Jabba Desilijic Tiure.[1] The twins were trained as yobanas, a Twi'leki word loosely translating to masseuse.[2] They delivered ritual massages to Sebulba whilst he sat a specially designed chair before his podraces.[3] The twins gave their owner a massage before the Boonta Eve Classic[4] in 32 BBY.[5] She was an acquaintance of Jabba along with her sister and was one of Jabba's guests during the death match between the Hutt's champion and Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn, the latter of whom was lured to Jabba's arena by her sister on behalf of Jabba, who was hoping for "worthy entertainment" from the Jedi Master.
Behind the scenes[]
Tann and her sister first appeared in the 1999 film Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace.[4] In the film, Tann Gella was portrayed by British model Nishan Hindes.[source?] Tann and her sister appear in a question in the StarWars.com game Garbage Masher, in which the objective is to save Chewbacca, Leia Organa, Luke Skywalker, and Han Solo from being crushed in a garbage compator.[6]
