Terrain-following sensor

A terrain-following sensor was a component that worked in tandem with a ship's propulsion and flight-control systems, allowing it to fly at a fixed height parallel to the ground. It automatically adjusted a ship's course and altitude to avoid collisions with obstacles and changing terrain.
