The Calm Before the Storm is an article written by August Hahn and Cynthia Hahn as a tie in to the Living Force campaign. It was published on the Wizards of the Coast website on January 26, 2006 and took the form of an encounter between the assassins Mr. Haque and Mr. Zlash and Governor Barnab Chistor. The assassins were about to kill Chistor when it was discovered that their payment had not been received and their patron had been executed as a Separatist, with his accounts subsequently frozen.

In the context of the Living Force campaign, from here on player-characters were able to use almost any feat or prestige class in the Hero's Guide.
