The fifth season of the animated Star Wars: The Clone Wars television series debuted on September 29, 2012. It was first confirmed to be in development in December 2011. Unlike the series' four previous seasons, Cartoon Network airs Season Five on Saturday mornings at 9:30 a.m. ET;^[1][2] The Clone Wars previously aired on Friday night in prime time, at 9:00 p.m. ET. Unlike previous seasons, Season Five will consist of only twenty episodes.^[3][4]

Before it began airing, Hasbro suggested that Season Five would be the last season of The Clone Wars.^[5] Supervising Director Dave Filoni disputed this claim, ^[6] and in Star Wars Insider 137, he reiterated his intention to keep making the show as long as people are watching. He also announced that his staff had begun working on scripts and designs for a sixth season.^[7] However, Season Five was the series' last, as Lucasfilm made the decision to "wind down" the show and release "bonus content" based on the work that had been done for Season Six.

Continuity

"A War on Two Fronts" was originally reported by Star Wars Insider 134 to be the season's premiere,^[31] but the premiere was later changed to "Revival,"^[32] with "A War on Two Fronts" becoming the second episode of the season.^[10] Following the episode order published in Insider 134, Star Wars Insider 137 also reported the episodes through episode fifteen.

Since the printing of Star Wars Insider 137, a new airing order was released, beginning with the sixth episode "The Gathering." Pablo Hidalgo confirmed the release order inconsistencies through the official Star Wars blog.^[34] The original order from Star Wars Insider is thus assumed to be in error. Furthermore, the episodes An Old Friend, The Rise of Clovis and Crisis at the Heart have been pushed to another season.
