The Evil One was a face card that was a part of the standard sabacc deck. It held a value of negative fifteen.

Like the other sabacc face cards, it is equivalent to one of the 22 Major Arcana in tarot cards, in this case The Devil. The Devil is a symbol of urge of selfish acts and impulsive violence, sexuality, temptation and deals with the devil. Many of such are associated with The Dark Side.
