The History and Use of Military Languages was an educational course offered to new troopers during their training in the Galactic Republic's Special Forces division around the time of the Great Galactic War. The course taught pupils the usage and interpretation of military communication methods, which included combat hand signals created during the Jedi Civil War. Trooper Larin Moxla took the class during her training, and used her knowledge of the Jedi Civil War combat signals to communicate with the J8O soldier droid Clunker several years later.
