[edit] Behind the scenes

The idea for the script came from Ryder Windham, who approached Brian Daley and Anthony Daniels to collaborate on a comic, as he had been in contact with both and knew that they had enjoyed working together for the Star Wars radio dramas. After talk between the three, Daley produced a rough outline, but work was halted first by Daley and Daniels' involvement in the Return of the Jedi radio adaption and then Daley's death. Several months later Windham was persuaded by Bob Cooper to take Daley's place, and he and Daniels produced the finished version of the script.

For the planning and writing of the script, R2-D2's words were written in English, only translated to whistles and beeps for the final version.

It was originally to be titled Unfriendly Persuasion.
