The Star Wars: First Draft was the first revision to the rough draft, completed only a few months later. Most of the revision centered on names, and many of these changes were later rejected when Lucas began work on the second draft, entitled Adventures of the Starkiller, Episode I: The Star Wars in early 1975.

Changes from the Rough to the First Draft
Edit
- The names of about half the characters, organizations and locations changed throughout the script.
- The sky of the Fourth Moon of Ogana changed from "bleak" to red. Lakes were present on that moon, some green.
- The second handmaiden, Alana, was omitted. Mina remained as a decoy princess at the Chatos Academy instead.
