The throne room of the Naboo monarchs was located in the heart of the Royal Palace of Theed.[1] On the request of Royal Naboo Security Forces Captain Quarsh Panaka, the handmaiden Eirtaé installed a compartment within the throne, only accessible by the queen that concealed two small blaster pistols, allowing the newly appointed Queen Padmé Amidala to be prepared for the worst when hosting foreign dignitaries.[2]
Behind the scenes[]
The throne room, as with the rest of the Palace's interior, was filmed on location inside Italy's Royal Palace of Caserta for both Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace and its sequel Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones. The Queen's desk and other furniture were set dressing for the films and not part of the real palace.[3]
