Thyrsus was a planet located in the the Thyrsus system of the Inner Rim Territories and the homeworld of the Sun Guards, who preserved the Echani culture. The Thyrsian Sun Guard served Darth Sidious as assassins prior to the Clone Wars. The Sun Guards' armor inspired that of the Imperial Royal Guard. The Sun Guards fought in the Clone Wars, and many joined the Imperial Royal Guard.

Urban tactics used in Thyrsus were one of the expertise areas of Lieutenant Colonel Beryl Chiffonage.^[2]
