Till, like many pilots in the Alliance, was young and inexperienced. He had yet to see combat, and had a tendency to ramble-on in tense situations.
While patrolling the Dreighton Triangle, Till expressed his fear towards the legends of the phantom ships to his friend Jenn. A mere seconds later, the Phantom TIEs made their appearance, damaging Jenn's X-wing. The hits broke Jenn's stabilizers, whose craft span out of control, colliding with Till's and destroying both craft.
