[edit] Biography
Lord Tion was a believer of Grand Moff Wilhuff Tarkin's infamous Tarkin Doctrine. He was responsible for the pacification of Ralltiir, a critic of the Emperor Palpatine's policies. Imperial military forces disbanded the Ralltiiri High Council and placed its population in prison camps. Interrogation centers were also set up and stormtroopers patrolled the streets. Tion also sealed off the entire Ralltiir system (not even permitting relief organizations to travel through his blockade), severely damaging commerce along the Perlemian Trade Route.
Prior to the Battle of Yavin, Princess Leia Organa went on a mercy mission to deliver medical supplies and equipment to the Ralltiiri High Council. She was permitted to land by Tion himself. There, Leia rescued a wounded Rebel soldier, who later revealed the existence of the first Death Star. Using the newly-installed planetary surveillance web, Leia and her pilot Antilles took advantage of Tion's infatuation with her to allow their escape. Upon her arrival at the Royal House of Alderaan, her father informs her that Tion has taken the bait and invited himself to a casual dinner, during which they will attempt to find out more about the Death Star. After several minutes of idle chatter, Leia finally convinces him to spill the beans about the Death Star, but, becoming increasingly appalled at Tion's description of the battle station, she can no longer control her outrage and makes a fatal blunder. Upon hearing Leia use the term "Death Star" (A codename he had not mentioned, but she had heard from the wounded Rebel soldier) Tion asserted Leia and her father's Rebel status, threatening to summon the Galactic Empire to Alderaan. However, before Tion was given the chance to inform upon them Leia killed him in self-defense, making her an enemy of the Empire. Tion's body was later left in Alderaan's Southern Game Preserve and a suitable "accident" arranged.
It should be noted that Lord Tion's final conversation gave the Rebel Alliance the intelligence needed to capture the plans of the first Death Star and later destroy it over the moon of Yavin 4 with the help of Luke Skywalker.
