"Ask Mr. Tivvy how a handful of Alderaanians managed to seize this land."
―Organa has Verlaine question Tivvy[src]

Tivvy was a male Sullustan smuggler who lived on the planet Sullust. Shortly after the Battle of Yavin, Tivvy led Princess Leia Organa of the Alliance to Restore the Republic, the Rebel pilot Evaan Verlaine, and the Astromech droid R2-D2, to Sullust's Alderaan Enclave. As they approached the enclave, a squad of its residents ambushed them but were defeated by the Rebels, after which Organa and her companions entered the enclave without Tivvy.

Biography

"He's trying to say it nicely ma'am, but… he thinks the the local Alderaanians here have gone insane."
―Verlaine translates for Tivvy[src]

The male Sullustan smuggler Tivvy lived on the planet Sullust during the Galactic Civil War between the Alliance to Restore the Republic and the Galactic Empire. Shortly after the Battle of Yavin, the Rebel Princess Leia Organa traveled to Sullust as part of a mission to rescue survivors from her homeworld, the planet Alderaan, which had been destroyed by the Empire. Organa, the astromech droid R2-D2 and the Rebel pilot Evaan Verlaine engaged Tivvy to show them to Sullust's Alderaan Enclave. The Sullustan informed them on the way that he believed the inhabitants of the enclave to have gone insane, as they had shut off communication with the outside world. Organa then questioned Tivvy as to how the Alderaanians had acquired the land the enclave was built on, before they were ambushed by a squad of soldiers from the enclave. The soldiers demanded that the group hand over their weapons, but Organa and her Rebel companions were able to disarm them. She then made her way into the enclave without Tivvy, eventually managing to persuade the enclave members to join her in her mission.[1]

Personality and traits

"Gained from smuggling, no doubt—the cornerstone of Sullust's economy. I won't ask what your friend Tivvy does for a…"
―Organa assumes that Tivvy is involved in smuggling[src]

Tivvy had black eyes and pale skin. He spoke a language other than basic, requiring Verlaine to translate, and when claiming the local Alderaanians were insane, he tried to be polite in his phrasing.[1]

Behind the scenes

Tivvy first appeared in 2015 in Star Wars: Princess Leia, Part III, a canon comic book written by Mark Waid and illustrated by Terry Dodson.
