Tizowyrms were small, slug-like creatures used by the Yuuzhan Vong. Intendants would use them to translate the languages of other species into their language, and would also allow them to speak the language of the other race. The tizowyrm was inserted through the ear.

The tizowyrm bears a resemblance to Douglas Adams' Babel fish in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Like the tizowyrm, the Babel fish was a creature that could be inserted into an individual's ear, where it would translate any spoken language.
