The tractor beam power-generator trench was one of seven locations where Docking Bay 327's tractor beam was connected to the Death Star I's main reactor. It was here that Obi-Wan Kenobi severed the connection, allowing the Millennium Falcon to escape. The entry area to the trench was guarded by two stormtroopers, but Kenobi distracted them with the Force.
