|Usage and history|
The VDV-100 holo communicator was an extremely powerful and compact holographic comlink that could receive transmissions from the opposite side of the galaxy. It could also receive HoloNet transmissions.
It had security features such as blocking specific holo signals or identification of incoming signals. It could also display an away message and record short messages. The unique feature of the VDV-100 was the ability to match incoming audio transmissions with a pre-recorded holographic image of the caller. While it was supposed to help vain users hide their appearance when they didn't look their best, criminals took to using the feature as a way to mislead or conceal their appearances.
