Biography
Edit
For decades between the Great Galactic War and the Cold War, Tremel administered the trials to Sith that prove themselves worthy to join the Sith Order. He made these trials very difficult for those that are strong to survive and weed out the weak.
During the Cold War, Tremel was present when the new Sith Acolyte arrived to the Sith Academy on Korriban. The Overseer decided to prepare the warrior to face against another acolyte named Vemrin who would plan to kill the Sith Warrior. Seeing that the Warrior had a practice sword for lesser acolytes, Tremel decided to send the acolyte to the Tomb of Ajunta Pall and search for a Sith warblade from the armory. The Warrior was able to retrieve the blade from the tomb and returned to the academy to meet with the Overseer. In the chamber, Tremel was seen speaking to his daughter, Eskella Gryton who was jealous that her father had the attention on the Sith Warrior. Tremel had his reasons, and told her not to spread the word about his new plan. After his daughter left, Tremel sent the Sith Warrior on his second trial: he was to interrogate three prisoners at the academy jails and decide their fate.
The Sith Warrior was able to pass the second trial and returned to the chambers where Tremel was having a quiet talk with Acolyte Elizhis about Renning's experiments. Tremel ordered him to leave and apologies for keeping the Acolyte waiting. He began to question the acolyte about the prisoners and the warrior was able to answer them. On the third trial, Tremel sends the acolyte to the Tomb of Marka Ragnos to slay a monstrous beast and deliver its brain to Lord Renning. The Sith warrior completed the trial and returned to the academy to meet with Darth Baras. Baras sensed that Tremel didn't adapt well to the Sith because of his compassion and unwillingness that weakened him from the dark side. The Sith Lord sent the Acolyte to kill him and bring him his hand as proof of his death. The Sith Warrior complied and returned to Tremel's quarters to eliminate him.
Tremel was very displeased when he heard that Baras wanted him dead, and engaged the Sith Warrior in a lightsaber duel. Tremel was outmatched, and was badly wounded. He was amazed and knew that the acolyte was strong enough to defeat him. Tremel urged the acolyte to strike him down in which the warrior did. Later, the acolyte gave Tremel's hand to Baras.
Personality and traits
Edit
- Tremel: "In a drive for sheer numbers, the criteria for Academy admittance has been relaxed. Now anyone with Force sensitivity is allowed entrance. Vemrin is mixed blood. The invisible rot eating at the foundations of the Empire. He must not be allowed to advance."
- Sith Warrior: "So, you're an elitist snob."
- Tremel: "You say that like it's a bad thing. It's the Sith way. Only the best, only the most pure, should be good enough."
- ―Tremel demonstrates his commitment to the Sith Empire.[src]
Behind the scenes

Tremel is voiced by Paul Darrow in Star Wars: The Old Republic.
Fate
Edit
The Warrior can chose to either kill or spare Tremel. If killed, Eskella would attempt to avenge her father, only to be slain. If the Warrior spared his life then eventually an enraged Eskella found Tremel in hiding, she attacked him and Tremel was forced to kill his own daughter. Only then did he wish revenge on Baras for what he had done to him.
He would later come out of hiding at the request of Darth Vowrawn to bear witness to his student defeating Darth Baras and ending his claim as the Voice of the Emperor.
