"Tucker on Five, waiting for Mother Bird. Over."
―Tucker checks in — (audio) Listen (file info)[3]

Tucker was the nickname of a clone pilot who flew in the Republic Navy's Blue Squadron during the Clone Wars. In 22 BBY, Blue Squadron was part of the Republic task force sent to liberate the planet Ryloth from Confederate control. During the ensuing battle, Tucker and Blue Squadron—under the command of Jedi Padawan Ahsoka Tano—made their way toward the enemy's flagship, attempting to break the Confederate blockade orbiting Ryloth. However, Confederate Vulture droids attacked Tucker and Blue Squadron, and after inflicting some casualties on the Republic fighter group, the Vultures proceeded to attack the Republic capital ships. Jedi General Anakin Skywalker and Admiral Wullf Yularen then ordered the squadron to retreat, but at Tano's behest, the starfighters continued the assault on the Confederate flagship. With the Republic fighters heavily outnumbered, Tucker was shot down and killed.

Biography[]

"All right boys, let's clear a path."
―Ahsoka Tano, to Blue Squadron, during the Battle of Ryloth[3]

Tucker was the nickname of a clone trooper pilot who served in the Republic Navy.[3] Like all other clone troopers, Tucker was a clone of the Mandalorian bounty hunter Jango Fett, born and trained on the planet Kamino.[1] Tucker served in Blue Squadron, a Republic starfighter unit, during the Clone Wars and flew under the call sign "Blue Five."[3] In 22 BBY,[2] the Confederacy of Independent Systems captured the planet Ryloth and subjugated the native Twi'lek inhabitants. A Republic fleet that included Tucker and Blue Squadron and was led by Jedi General Anakin Skywalker was dispatched to the Ryloth system in response. The Republic forces were tasked with breaking the Confederate blockade—under the command of the Neimoidian Captain Mar Tuuk—surrounding the planet, in order to allow Republic ground forces to land on Ryloth.[3]

Blue Squadron Ryloth

Blue Squadron during the Battle of Ryloth

After the Republic arrived over Ryloth, Blue Squadron, led by Skywalker's apprentice, Ahsoka Tano, left the hangar of Skywalker's Venator-class Star Destroyer, the Resolute, in their V-19 Torrent starfighters to destroy the enemy command ship. As Tano led Tucker and Blue Squadron toward the Confederate blockade containing the enemy flagship, they were quickly confronted by swarms of Confederate Vulture droid starfighters, sent by Tuuk to destroy the Republic fighters.[3]

Tucker and Blue Squadron engaged the Vulture droids and sustained damage in the ensuing fight, but the squadron continued its assault toward the Confederate flagship. However, four additional Munificent-class frigates soon joined the Confederate blockade, heavily outnumbering the Republic task force. Waves of Vulture droids began attacking the Republic fleet's Venator Star Destroyers, forcing Skywalker and Admiral Wullf Yularen to order Blue Squadron to fall back and protect the capital ships. However, Tano disobeyed, and at her command, Blue Squadron continued its assault on the enemy command ship, harassed by groups of more Vultures. Tucker was shot down en route to the Confederate flagship by a Vulture droid. He perished as his starfighter exploded.[3]

Personality and traits[]

Tucker was an experienced fighter pilot, and he was also trained in military tactics. Before the Battle of Ryloth, he figured out that the chances of surviving the battle were slim, due to the numeric advantage held by the Confederates.[1] Nevertheless, he carried out his orders without hesitation.[3] Tucker also found space combat to be beautiful, although other pilots of Blue Squadron considered him to be odd as a result. Despite his fondness for starfighter combat, Tucker wished that he could watch the Battle of Ryloth from a distance instead of being in the midst of the chaos. A human male Fett clone, he stood 1.83 meters tall (6 ft).[1]

Equipment[]

Tucker wore Phase I clone pilot armor and had the insignia of Blue Squadron adorned on his helmet. He possessed a DC-15 blaster pistol.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

Tucker first appeared in "Storm Over Ryloth," the nineteenth episode of the first season of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars television series, which aired on February 27, 2009. Like all clone troopers in the series, Tucker was voiced by Dee Bradley Baker.[4]
