Tulruses were large egg-laying beasts which could mainly be found roaming on and around Tulrus Island on Mustafar where they have rid off all species except the Jundak. For safety reasons, the Tulrus usually traveled in small packs of two or more and were very protective, and therefore also aggressive if provoked. Their tusks were made from ivory. Legends say that a Tulrus was trapped in a ancient republic facility and had grown to great size and strength. It was never proven true, for everyone who has entered the facility has never come out alive. Swords could be constructed from their bodies.

Due to their sheer size, Tulruses were very dangerous creatures, but they were not particularly smart. Due to their poor eyesight and bad temper, they often charged the instant they detected the presence of anything besides themselves. When attacking they used their large masses to knock their enemies off their feet and then trampled them to death.

Around 1 ABY, one particularly ferocious Tulrus named Foehorn attacked several miners. Chief Ulon Glost of Mensix Mining Company hired a number of hunters to try kill the beast.
