Turkana was a planet located within the Turkana system of the Outer Rim Territories.

It was the homeworld of Koffi Arana. For some time before the Battle of Yavin, a Rebel fleet had its base there. It was here, during the Battle of Turkana, that the T-65 X-wing starfighter debuted in its' first major military role, surprising the Imperials who assaulted the fleet.

The name "Turkana" may be a reference to the Star Trek: The Next Generation planet Turkana IV, or to Lake Turkana.
