―Tusken war chief[src]

The Tusken war chief was the warrior leader of a band of Tusken Raiders who made their home on the outskirts of Mos Espa near a Tusken burial site. He resided in the remains of a derelict ship and took the Queen of Naboo hostage as a trophy.

Upon landing on Tatooine in 32 BBY, the Queen's handmaiden Padmé set out for Mos Espa, a nearby city, with Jinn, Jar Jar Binks, and R2-D2. While they were absent, Sabé (in the guise of Queen Amidala) received a message from Governor Sio Bibble, pleading her to contact him on Naboo. Jedi Padawan Obi-Wan Kenobi cautioned against this, a warning she heeded.[2] At any rate, she could not act without the Queen's authority, but she still found the situation she was in to be highly taxing.[3]

While laying in wait, Sabé (still in disguise) was captured by Tusken Raiders and taken to the Tusken war chief.[1] Kenobi, tracked the Raiders through their extensive canyon dwellings, among old scavenged shipwrecks, and was forced to journey through a communal Tusken burial site in search of Sabé. He located the decoy Queen being held in a derelict craft that the Tuskens use for shelter and was forced into a confrontation with the Tusken war chief, whom he subsequently defeated. In an odd move for the Tuskens, they, solemnly and ceremoniously, conceded defeat after Obi-Wan demanded to be allowed to return to safety with Sabé. Kenobi, having slain the Tusken war chief and having successfully rescued Sabé, returned to the ship to await his companions return.[1]

Years later, while in hiding on Tatooine, Kenobi would recount of this incident in a meditative conversation with the Force spirit of his former Master, Qui-Gon Jinn.[4]
