The twinfin hyacander was a species of fish native to the oceans of the planet Ahch-To. The fish had green-scaled bodies with bright red lips and relatively large white teeth. The species possessed a pair of dorsal fins, one long ventral fin and a tail fin. Members of the sentient Lanai species caught twinfin hyacander for food,[1] and in the year 34 ABY,[2] there was a hyacander hanging on a fish rack[3] by a fishhook made from salvaged wire[1] in the Jedi village where Jedi Master Luke Skywalker resided when the scavenger Rey came to him for training.[3]

Behind the scenes

A twinfin hyacander first appeared in the film Star Wars: Episode VIII The Last Jedi,[3] which was released on December 15, 2017.[4] The prop was not named in the film,[3] but received identification in Star Wars: The Last Jedi: The Visual Dictionary, a reference book written by Pablo Hidalgo[1] and released in conjunction with the film.[5]
