Tyl, called Tyl the Deplorable, was a legendary Trunsk warlord who united the Trunsks by conquering all of Trunska. He quickly converted his triumphant armies into a police force and diverted resources that formerly had gone toward war into technological development. As a result, the Trunsks quickly went from an isolated civilization with information-era technology to Galactic Republic members with hyperdrive-equipped starships (though it is not certain how much time passed between Tyl's conquests and Trunska's membership in the Republic).
