Tyrian cloth was an ludicrously expensive fabric from Tyrian, only owned by the wealthiest individuals in the galaxy. Lott Dod had several garments made of violet Tyrian cloth.

Tyrian cloth may be an allusion to ancient Tyre, a real-world trade city of ancient Phoenicia famous for merchants who sold luxury goods.
