This medical unit was a medical droid manufactured by Ubrikkian Steamworks some years prior to the introduction of the company's DD-13 cybernetic surgical droid.

Several of these medical units were supplied by Ubrikkian to assist with the reconstruction of General Grievous following his shuttle crash on Kalee. Following the success of Grievous's rehabilitation, Ubrikkian Steamworks fielded their new DD-13 unit in the Emperor Palpatine Surgical Reconstruction Center on Coruscant, where it aided with the recovery of Darth Vader.
