The title of this article is conjectural.

Although this article is based on official information from the Star Wars Legends continuity, the actual name of this subject is pure conjecture.

"Thank you for selecting our brand of mini-transmitter. If you assemble it properly, following the instructions I am about to give you, it will provide many years of fun, and valuable service to you."
―Dromboid, hosting an instruction cassette[src]

A company sold mini-transmitters—devices that could translate speech into one of 1,000 other languages—during the Galactic Civil War. Although the company manufactured its products in the Amorphiia system,[1] by 1 ABY,[2] the items were available in other regions of the galaxy. That year, the Wookiee Lumpawarrump constructed one of this company's mini-transmitters on the planet Kashyyyk.[1]

Each mini-transmitter shipped with a bag of tools, a circuit-breaker module, an impulse-to-voice translator, and an instruction cassette to explain the assembly process.[1] This cassette was hosted by a male Amorphiian named Dromboid.[3] Despite his best efforts, Dromboid's tendency to speed up and slow down erratically, common to his species, proved frustrating to Lumpwarrump. Nevertheless, the announcement preceding the instructional cassette insisted that the host's malfunctions did not affect the product itself.[1]

Behind the scenesEdit

The mini-transmitter company is mentioned in The Star Wars Holiday Special, a television variety show that aired on CBS in 1978. In the special, the Wookiee Lumpawarrump, played by Patty Maloney, follows the instructions of Dromboid, played by Harvey Korman, to assemble one of the company's devices.

The article SWInsider "I Have a Bad Feeling About This!"—Star Wars Insider 106, p. 32, uses the name "Dromboid" in conjunction with this character, but it does no specify whether it is the character's proper name or an alternative name for his species. However, the 4th draft script for The Star Wars Holiday Special p. 109A, confirms that the character's name is in fact Dromboid.
