"The detention center's warden says my old squad-mates are serving life sentences."
―Sergeant Rusk[1]

The Galactic Republic detention facility on the planet Berrun was run by a warden during the Cold War with the Sith Empire.[1] Around 3641 BBY,[2] Sergeant Fideltin Rusk of the Republic Military contacted the warden in order to confirm rumors that the members of his first command were imprisoned at the Berrun facility, and the prison official informed the Chagrian officer that his squad had in fact been incarcerated in the facility after they began targeting the families of enemy commanders. The Republic Special Forces Division had been forced to arrest the squad, which was part of its black ops program. The Surgeons, as the squad had been known, was convicted of war crimes and imprisoned under life sentences, and the warden conveyed that information and the fact that the squad was proud of their actions to Rusk when contacted.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

The prison Warden was first mentioned during the conversation "The Surgeons" with the Jedi Knight companion character Fideltin Rusk, in the 2011 BioWareLucasArts video game Star Wars: The Old Republic.[1]

  2. SWTOR mini Forums: Dear Story Team, What Year Are We Currently In? on The Old Republic's official website (backup link) and Star Wars: The Old Republic Encyclopedia establish that the Battle of Ilum and the end of Act III for the class storylines of Star Wars: The Old Republic occur in late 3640 BBY and prior to the events of The Old Republic: Annihilation, which is also set in 3640 BBY per The Essential Reader's Companion. Annihilation establishes that the Treaty of Coruscant collapsed approximately eighteen months prior, or in 3641 BBY, and as Act III occurs after the treaty's collapse, the act begins sometime between 3641 BBY and 3640 BBY.
