A Gotal smuggler was captured by the Galactic Empire and was transformed into a wild beast by the Sith Lord Darth Vader. Vader did this by burning the smuggler's mind with the Dark Side of the Force, causing the transformation to occur. Driven by fear, the Gotal served the Sith Lord as a guard. The Gotal later met another smuggler named Han Solo and his co-pilot Chewbacca in 12 ABY in the underground catacombs of the planet Belsavis.
