"Senator Am-Ris…break off the talks! It's a trick! The Sith! They're…they're attacking…they're here!-- No!"
―Unidentified Mon Calamari chancellor's last words[src]

This unidentified Mon Calamari politician served as Supreme Chancellor of the Galactic Republic during the Great Galactic War in 3,653 BBY.

[edit] History

Just prior to the Sith Empire's attack on Coruscant, the capital of the Galactic Republic, the Chancellor presided over a session of the Galactic Senate in the Senate Rotunda which received a report from Jedi Master Orgus Din and Lieutenant Harron Tavus about the end of the Sith offensive that took place in the Minos Cluster. The Chancellor believed that the end of the offensive was proof that the Great War, a conflict that had ensued between the Sith Empire and the Republic for one hundred years, would soon end peacefully. However, this proved to be untrue, as a Sith attack began just as the Senate session ended. The Republic was caught off-guard with this assault, as peace talks initiated by the Sith were taking place on the planet Alderaan at the time.

Angral, a Sith Lord from the Empire, led the Sith forces during the conflict. Angral's duel with Din ended with the Jedi's retreat and Angral's continued march to the Senate Building. The Supreme Chancellor contacted Senator Paran Am-Ris, a Cerean with the Alderaan envoy, via holoprojector and warned him of the Sith treachery before Angral powered through the wall and killed the Chancellor.

[edit] Behind the scenes

The chancellor's exclamations of "Break off the talks!" and "It's a trick!" are similar to two of Admiral Ackbar's lines from Return of the Jedi, "Break off the attack!" and "It's a trap!"
