The unidentified Shaman of the Whills was a member of the Ancient Order of the Whills who had knowledge of the Force. It was this shaman who discovered the secret to eternal life by retaining one's consciousness in the Force upon death. The shaman shared this secret with Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn. At the end of the Clone War and at the start of the Galactic Empire, Qui-Gon Jinn shared the secret with his former Padawan, now Jedi Master, Obi-Wan Kenobi. Most Jedi who were alive after the start of the Galactic Empire seemed to have known the secret, too, for they have been seen after their deaths as Force ghosts.
