The title of this article is conjectural.

Although this article is based on official information from the Star Wars Legends continuity, the actual name of this subject is pure conjecture.

A group of activists for animal rights had a goal of stopping the use of thrantas—a species of large, winged creatures—in air rodeos.

History[]

At one point, the group made a decision to go beyond merely complaining about and picketing the rodeos. The group kidnapped an air rodeo owner and subject her to starvation for one week in order to show her how the thrantas felt during transport when they were deprived of the sunlight necessary to make energy using photosynthesis.[1]

After the activists captured the owner, a group of individuals with a reputation were asked to go and rescue her. Since the group did not want a ransom, the owner's husband was willing to pay the volunteers for their efforts in rescuing his wife.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

The animal rights group first appeared as part of an adventure idea in Rodeo Thranta, an article written by Jeff Quick as part of the Creature Feature series of articles for the Star Wars Roleplaying Game that was published on Wizards of the Coast's website. The article was released on December 12, 2002, with the adventure ideas being usable by gamemasters at any time after thrantas were first used in air rodeos, which happened before the destruction of the thrantas home planet, Alderaan.[1]
