- "Back off! This is a legal operation."
- ―The mine operator, to Gavyn Sykes
A male mine operator was in charge of a plasma mining camp affiliated with Borvo the Hutt and the Trade Federation on the planet Naboo around the time of the Federation's invasion of the planet. The operator encountered Lieutenant Gavyn Sykes of the Royal Naboo Security Forces at the camp during the invasion. After the individual refused to give information and had the mine defenses fire on Sykes, the Naboo pilot destroyed the mining camp.
Biography[]
During the Trade Federation's invasion of the planet Naboo in 32 BBY,[2] a male individual ran a mining camp owned by the smuggler Borvo the Hutt. The camp was designed to search for plasma resources on Naboo[1] and also served as a plasma shipping site for the Trade Federation.[3] The Trade Federation Droid Army began attacking the camp with several tanks, and a ship resembling Borvo's personal transport left the scene during the skirmish. Lieutenant Gavyn Sykes of the Royal Naboo Security Forces' Bravo Flight, traveling in a speeder, was searching for his downed flight leader, Captain Kael, at the same time and discovered the mining operation.[1]
After destroying the droids that were attacking the camp, Sykes radioed the mine operator, demanding to know who was in charge there. The operator responded with hostility, insisting that his mine was a legal operation. However, his words did not deter Sykes' questions about Kael, and when Sykes refused to heed the operator's final warning, the operator ordered his remaining defenses to fire on the Naboo pilot. That forced Sykes to retaliate by defending himself and destroying the camp.[1]
Personality and traits[]
- "This base is programmed to defend itself. This is your last warning."
- ―The mine operator
The mine operator became hostile when Sykes demanded to know who was in charge of his mine. He was also protective of his camp, and he ordered his turrets to fire on Sykes.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
The mine operator was a minor character created for the 2000 video game Star Wars: Episode I: Battle for Naboo. His only dialogue comes from the game's cutscenes. Although Sykes destroys the camp's main building, the operator was not confirmed to be in it.[1]
